A complex blend of fine English malts, Blackout is a porter ale produced from a unique 1930s recipe which has only recently been recovered.
Smooth as silk. A deep rich flavour fills the mouth with lashings of chocolate and malty goodness. This beer is not overly sweet though so don’t be put off by that chocolate hit. Slight hints of rum & raisin also surface with a subtle vanilla after-note.
Blackout is effortlessly palatable and devilishly satisfying. A decent ABV gives this beer the needed kick to counteract the chocolate overtones, making sure everything is kept in check. An extremely good pint, worth seeking out.
The brewers say:
We’re right chuffed with our porter. This 18th century London beer style is brewed with 100% English ingredients and showcases the delicious flavours of chocolate and vanilla – by ‘eck it’s addictive.
